First Semester So Far

the crocodile

crocodile, Wendy, and John

Well, our first swap of the year was last week! The theme was Never, Neverland and we went as the crocodile, Wendy, and John (the older of the two brothers). The party was SO much fun! We loved having Dustin around this time. Of course I made the boys wear these somewhat over-the-top costumes after I worked so hard on them! They ended up actually getting excited about it like I knew they would. School is already driving Lee and I crazy! We've had our first few tests and papers and it seems like there is never enough time for rest around here. In our "spare time" we even help Dustin take quizzes...

Football season is in progress now and I love it! No matter how bad everyone else says we may be playing, I still feel like if I cheer and RING loud enough, it makes ALL the difference! (hence my sore arms and hands today!) I know the game wasn't as good as it absolutely could have been, but I must say our defense did a great job (on getting our points)! I still love the dawgs and can't wait for our next home game...which seems forever away. Megan and Russ actually stayed all weekend for this game and joined us for Bulldog Bash! It was so fun and we had the best seats. Gavin Degraw and the Grove played so it was definately worth being there from 3 pm to 1am! It was a fun weekend!

A Long Awaited Update

Well, it's been a crazy month!! Rush went great for Chi O, and I'm really excited about our new girls. It's just a little hard to believe it was my last year to do it. Classes resumed for MSU, and I must say it is VERY different having my little brother next door and in the same buildings for class! It definately takes a little of the homesick sting away. Lee turned 22 this month also!! We had an awesome cookout with friends Wednesday night and we ate the biggest filets any of us had ever seen....well, with the exception of Kyle Holcombe and his peanut butter and jelly sandwich from home. Can you tell he is now on the Starkville budget?! Lee and I have been so busy getting into the swing of things and trying to get off to a great start with classes that we haven't even had time to update you all! I can tell this last year as undergrads here is going to be our best yet and I'm SO excited about football season starting today! GO DAWGS!
Lee is spending this weekend with Ms. Rhonda in Jackson, and I brought Ally (my roomie) home to Corinth with me. We were planning on being at the beach, but I'm sure you can see that wasn't going to happen this week! We shopped around today in Corinth and we're planning a road trip to Jackson tomorrow after church to participate in the Macy's Labor Day Sale!! Yes, we just got our allowances for the month, and we might be having some of those peanut butter sandwiches by the 2nd week. Anyway, this holiday weekend has started off wonderfully and the weather here was beautiful today. I'm going to go watch the game with the family now!

School's Out!

Well,...summer school turned out to be worth the pain this year for Lee and I. We both EARNED A's for our hard work, and we are now free for a couple of weeks. Well, Lee is anyway- I start rush this week. Lee and Dustin moved into their new apartment right beside mine this weekend, and I must say it was the easiest move I have ever witnessed! Guys are so much easier when it comes to things like that. It must have taken me at least a week to get everything in its place BEFORE I unpacked. They are already settled in and on their first road trip! They are in Greenville now at a rush party, and I decided to make the trip home to Corinth since my roommate is away in Florida. I'm afraid I won't have much time to blog over the next two weeks so I wanted to give a small update on our seemingly boring, busy lives just in case! All I can say is we are SO ready for football season to get here for some fun and relaxing Saturdays with the family! GO DAWGS!

Back to School

Well, Lee and I are back in school now if you've been wondering why we haven't been keeping you tuned in for our not-so-exciting lives for the moment! Averaging two tests a week with presentations, and for Lee, speeches, we haven't had much time to do anything else. Although I'm sure my parents are pleased with our priorities, it is putting a bit of a dent in our blog excitement. I apologize for this, but we are actually doing well in our classes, so this is good! Other than that, we've stayed in Starkville other than one weekend we spent with Megan and Russ in Jackson. Megan and I did some early wedding shopping and compared notes while Lee and Russ worked out. It was a great needed break for us! We even got to see Nonnie and Pops, which is always great. We haven't visited with them since the family vacation where all of this began! Ok,..now it's off to study and prepare for our great school lives! Sorry for the brief synopsis.

DISNEY

I know, I know...it's taken me a while to get this thing updated! You must understand it cost $10 a day to use the internet at Disney, therefore I opted not to do so. And, unlike my wonderful big sister, I rested after the journey home before returning to the blog! I think it goes without saying that the trip was FANTASTIC! Of course, it was Lee's first time to go to Disney World, so half of the fun was watching him. I must say I rode more roller coasters than I had planned, thanks to him. His favorite character is Goofy, so we pretty much searched for him constantly seeing how many outfits we could get pictures of him in! We watched 5 parades while in Disney and who can even say how many shows!? Each one was different and the details were amazing! We also watched 3 firework shows, and let's just say, the annual 4th of July fireworks were put to shame a little. We ate at the best restaurants, ranging from a 5o's diner with living room decor to Cinderella's castle as "royal guests"! Here's some pictures to give a little insight into our trip. No doubt Daddy will come out with a DVD pretty soon!

2 Down, 1 to Go...

That's right, our time in Destin has come to an end. That makes two trips to Florida we've made and all we have left to look forward to is our trip to Disney World Monday! I know, like Daddy said, we must be exhausted. Ha. This week has been amazing and so relaxing. We finally stayed outside all day today (which is very unlikely for Lee and I). We made use of the pool and hot tub for more than just cooling off! Trying to soak up the last bit of Florida air to last us until Monday. Oh, about the whole Megan's recipe thing I mentioned the other day: Let's just say it didn't go as well as I had hoped! But hey, she is a lot to live up to as a chef!! Speaking of, if any of you are in need of food,....come visit our room when we leave. Our frig has been taken over by styrofoam boxes we swore we would take and finish! Anyway, it's time to pack up and head home once more. As Lee says, "It's so sad every time we leave Florida no matter how long we're there." See everyone soon!

Relaxation..

Well, since the engagement, everything has been pretty crazy and I have to admit that I've disappeared into "lee and kristin world" but I feel like it's time to give a little update. I'm actually in Destin with Lee, Mrs. Rhonda, and Sissy (Lee's aunt) staying at the Mediterranea (GREAT place!). We actually ran into Courtney Ann and Evan here today at the beach. We have been relaxing and having fun....and EATING. We have eaten Buster's, Pompano Joe's, Guglielmo's, and Louisiana Lagniappe and it is only Tuesday!! We have decided to wake up early in the morning though, because- go figure- as soon as we get out to the beach each afternoon, the big clouds roll in. Think I might have brought the "Coon Cloud" with me?!...Thanks, Mom. Despite the thunder and lightning, the trip has already been so enjoyable (even though Lee and Mrs. Rhonda beat us at cards...)! There was one downfall to the trip though. We did have to miss Father's Day. That's right, Megan and I were both absent. Neither of us can stand missing ANYTHING much less that special day. Lee decided to pretend Saturday was Father's Day for Mr. Fred, and I left Daddy's Father's Day happy at home to open Sunday. Thank goodness Dustin picked up Megan's slack and took pictures to send of Daddy wearing and using everything he received this year! Well, that's why I'm a little behind in posting details of our life together - we're busy enjoying it this week!! Tomorrow we plan to buy Fool's Gold and use a couple of Megan's recipes! I'm so excited...two of my favorite things: food and movies.

Happy Anniversary!

So,...today is our six year anniversary (as far as dating goes)! We began dating the summer after ninth grade. We celebrated by going out on the lake for the second day in a row, and luckily it didn't rain like yesterday! Megan joined us on our venture of course and we both have plenty of redness to prove it. You'll notice, I don't have my ring on in this picture. That would be because no one trusts me with it until I get it resized, and even then the future is looking pretty grim for my hand on the lake. Since she beat me to the computer, I won't put all the pictures up but you can go to her blog and check them out. We are now about to have a family dinner and possibly watch a movie! I know, pretty romantic....but we've had more than our fair share of that lately, so relaxing and eating for free probably sounds pretty nice to leeroy! He has actually even picked up a reading habit the past two days since I have been obsessing over the "Ultimate Wedding Planner" and cutting out every picture I see of dresses, cakes, flowers, etc. Needless to say, I'm still pretty excited about the engagement and I hope that doesn't go away for a while!!

SURPRISE!

So...it's official. Lee and I are bloggers now, after much persuasion on the part of my dear sister and future mother-in-law! As many already know (you gotta love Corinth) Lee popped the question night before last after an INTERESTING walk on the beach. I have never claimed to be much of a successful romantic, but that night knocked the word out of my vocabulary! Lee had tried, unsuccessfully, all week long to get me alone. On a Smith family vacation, that is pretty much unfathomable! Wednesday night, he packed the ring in his pocket for our journey to the Back Porch to eat. Well, needless to say, that didn't exactly work out. Megan and I decided it should be the three of us instead. Silent about the issue, Lee went on until Friday. Friday night, our last night in PCB, Lee and I decided to go to Margaritaville for supper. For some reason, he seemed adomant that we have alone time so I left Megan at home pouting. When we got there, it was a two hour wait...no thanks! So...we had PIZZA. Well, the cousins then decided to go to Tootsie's lounge which I could not miss, so Lee was extremely quiet and saying he would really love to just go for a walk on the beach alone. Around 10, I finally gave in and we headed to the beach. Well, the walk was as could be expected - I was stumbling over the sand in my flip flops (didn't want to step on crabs, you see), slinging sand onto my legs (causing an allergic reaction of course), and switching my gigantor of a purse from shoulder to shoulder. About 10 minutes into the walk, i asked for some kind of marker as to how far I was expected to walk in these conditions. Lee then mumbled something about me 'catching him' and my heart pretty much dropped past my stomach and straight onto the beach! I started saying a lot about him freaking me out and telling him "NO, NO!! we need a redo!" and he drops to one knee! I swear I left him down there without an answer for a good 5 minutes as I asked question after question about my dad's opinion on the issue while saying "Of course I'm going to marry you, but....". I finally gained my composure and said yes of course, and let the poor boy get off his knee. I repeatedly let him know this is what he's in for for the rest of his life and asked if he was sure he still wanted me! The rest is history and the family was SHOCKED to say the least. Dustin just stated that he was sweating and asked if we were serious while Megan instinctively reached for her camera (or as Lee calls it, her second phone) and got most of the night documented. Only my dad and Mr. Fred knew it was anywhere close to time and they were VERY sneaky. Lee and his dad even entered and exited the jewelry store through the back alley entrance! I think the whole town of Corinth knew before I lifted a finger to text Emily, the only person I could even think to text through the excitement (after families). She won't even see the ring or me until JULY by the way! Not one of my friends has seen it in person might I add with a tear. So it's off to the store for me - I must buy every wedding planner, bridal magazine, and etiquette book I can get my hands on! So...there's the main points of the "story" and, as Lee so sweetly told me, "It's O.K., Kristin, I wouldn't want it any other way. If it was romantic, it wouldn't be us!" I think he was TRYING to make me feel better....
